This is all I have to say: $5 tortas! Massive tortas! Beautiful tortas! Savory tortas! Uh-Mazing tortas!
But really, I've been coming here about once a week for the past month for a torta. It is a cash only place. But the tortas make it worth walking an extra block to the bank to withdraw cash for a torta...and a pumpkin empanada!
It's my torta place. Definitely worth getting a torta if you're in the area! -

Great business! This is a hole-in-the-wall bakery that's pretty much hiding in plain sight (there's no business sign on the storefront, but the cakes, pastries and goodies are right in your face, so I don't see the need). Located right outside one of the many food halls in downtown on Broadway, this place is a hidden gem for lunch.
They have an assortment of sweets and baked goods, both cold and freshly baked. Very inexpensive, too ($1-4).
The takeaway here is their delicious tortas and sandwiches, both $5 each (special meats like pastrami or roast beef are $1 more--bang for your buck, regardless). You can have them toasted or not. Ask to have them cut in half if you want to
With the hiked prices of the young DTLA foodie scene, I'm hooked on these sandwiches, especially on a budget. Add-ons are free (cheese, tomato, spinach, onions, etc.), even avocado!
The ladies behind the counter work really hard and are very skillful at taking multiple orders.
However, they only take cash--I have to remember to get cashback in order for me to eat here.
I've yet to have any experience with their cake orders, but if I do choose to order a cake through them, I will update this review. -

Simply the best Tres Leches cake anywhere. The service and attention to detail is top. I've also had the Tortas and they are also good.

Did a quick stop to get a coffee and sweat bread, but instead ended up getting a ham Torta. The Torta was great, an perfect combination of toppings made a bomb ass Torta. If your ever looking for a mom made home style Torta, this is the place to go.
I've tried the sweat bread in the past. That's one of the reasons I came back. They have good freindly service and are quick to get your orders done.
